FAIRLIGHT PTA NEWSLETTER NOVEMBER 2025
Hi everyone! Welcome to our first newsletter of the 2025-26 year. It’s a long one but please do have a look through – we have a lot planned for this year and would love you to get involved!
SO FAR THIS TERM
DISCOS
It was wonderful to see the children having so much fun at our spooky discos. Enormous thanks to everyone who gave their time to help, especially Pabs for the awesome DJing. We raised just over £650! The next discos will be in February – date and details will be confirmed nearer the time.
SALES
We have had two pre-loved uniform sales so far this year (with added treats in the form of donuts and cupcakes). These sales are a great way to share items, save everyone money and reduce waste. Over the coming weeks we will be adding seasonal bits, so if you have any festive clothes that you no longer want, please bring them to the office and they will be gratefully received!
EASYFUNDRAISING
We have just passed £2000 raised through Easyfundraising – massive thanks to those who use the site when shopping! With the festive period coming up we have an opportunity to raise a significant amount of money if everyone associated with Fairlight uses Easyfundraising when buying presents. Please consider giving it a go if you haven’t already!
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING (AGM)
We held our AGM on Monday 20th October. For anyone interested, the minutes will be available on the PTA section of the Fairlight website: https://www.fairlight.brighton-hove.sch.uk/parents-and-carers/pta
COMING UP
BAG2SCHOOL (B2S) – WEDNESDAY 12TH NOVEMBER
B2S will be visiting next week to pay us for bags of our unwanted items! The children will come home this week with a bag to fill. NB: The date printed on these bags is incorrect – the collection is on 12th November – please bring any bags to drop off on this day. There is no upper limit – the more the better!
SALES – THURSDAY 13TH NOVEMBER, 27TH NOVEMBER AND 11TH DECEMBER
Our pre-loved uniform sales will be more frequent this year! If you have any clean/high quality/nearly-new items to donate for these, please bring them to the office. We would welcome school shoes and uniform, warm items (jackets, tights, scarves, hats, gloves), festive jumpers/sweaters, cosy pyjamas/onesies.
WINTER FAIR – FRIDAY 5TH DECEMBER
This year’s winter fair will be in the playground after school on Friday 5th December. Please save the date and come along for games (including our famous bottle hoopla and chocolate tombola), festive tunes, face painting, hamper raffle, mulled wine, hot chocolate, mince pies and Santa’s grotto!
CINEMA EXPERIENCE – TBC
At some point in the winter we are hoping to hold a cosy cinema experience at school – showing children’s programmes/films and snuggling up with teddies and popcorn. More details will follow!
WE NEED YOU!
We have ambitions to make this our best year yet! Many schools in the UK are operating under extreme financial pressures at the moment, and we aim to support ours to ensure that every child is able to benefit from high-quality equipment and enriching experiences that might not otherwise be possible. The PTA is a team effort – please help us however you can!
WINTER FAIR HELPERS
If you can help with stalls/games on the day (5th December) we would love to hear from you (contact details are below). We also have some specific requests:
This year we are planning to add a little extra sparkle to the playground by filling it with lanterns made by the children – please start saving your empty glass jars and more instructions about what to do with these will follow!
We will have two non-uniform days in exchange for donations for the chocolate tombola and bottle hoopla – these will be on Friday 28th Nov (chocolate) and Friday 5th Dec (bottles) – details and reminders will be sent nearer the time.
Are you musical? We would LOVE to include some live music in the fair this year. If you would be willing to consider playing some festive tunes in the playground then please get in touch!
TUCK SHOP SPONSOR
The Key Stage 2 (Years 3-6) tuck shop runs every Thursday during morning break. It is organised by volunteers with the aim of providing healthy and tasty snacks, teaching the children about money, and raising funds for the school. All of the money raised last year has been saved for playground improvements, and this year it will go towards classroom supplies. So far food has been donated by volunteers, and we are now hoping to find someone to sponsor the tuck shop more formally. Do you know a business that might be interested in helping us? Please let us know.
COLLECTION BOXES
We have a number of new table top collection boxes (you may have noticed one by the school office window)! Do you work at/know somewhere that could host one of these for us? They are a great way of raising money with very little effort on the part of those involved!
MATCH-FUNDING
Does your workplace offer match-funding (a scheme where organisations agree to match public donations to charity)? If so, this can be an amazing way to support us. Please ask and let us know!
