WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS TERM?

KS2 TUCK SHOP – THURSDAYS

Tuck shop runs every Thursday at morning break time for Years 3-6. Snacks are 20p each and all proceeds go towards play equipment.

BAG2SCHOOL COLLECTION – 7 FEBRUARY

Nearer the time, we will send bags home which can be filled with unwanted clothes, shoes, bags, hats, jewellery and belts. Please bring these to school at drop-off on 7th February, and Bag2School will collect them and pay us per kilo. There is no limit to donations so feel free to have a good clear out!

VALENTINE’S DISCOS – 14 FEBRUARY

We have one more disco day this year – on Friday 14th February. Details will follow soon!

UNIFORM SALES – 17 JANUARY & 24 FEBRUARY

Pre-loved uniform sales take place in the playground after school. Items range from 50p to £3, and cash and card payments are available. On 24th February the sale will include dressing-up outfits for World Book Day (which is on 6th March).

SPRING FAIR AND RAFFLE DRAW – 21 & 24 MARCH

Keep a look out nearer the time for details of our spring fair (21st March) and big spring raffle (24th March). If you would be interested in helping at the fair or donating a raffle prize, we’d love to hear from you!

NON-UNIFORM DAY – 4 APRIL

To celebrate the end of term, children will be able to come to school in their own clothes. You will have the option to give a voluntary £1 donation in cash or on Parent Pay.

MAGIC READING HUT

This is now permanently in the playground, to the right of the rainbow shelter. Children can help themselves to a free book as often as they like, and if you have one or two good quality books to share, you can donate them here for others to enjoy.

FUNDING SO FAR THIS YEAR

ASDA CASHPOTS FOR SCHOOLS

Thank you so much to everyone who signed up to the Asda Cashpots for Schools scheme in the autumn. You raised more than £300!

EASYFUNDRAISING

In 2024, we raised £876.01 from easyfundraising – a scheme where supporters raise free donations for charities when they do their normal online shopping. We are aiming to build on this in 2025 and would be so grateful if you could help us in the following ways:

If you haven’t already signed up, please do so using the link below (and ask friends and family to do the same). It takes less than two minutes and only requires a name and email address… https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/support-a-good-cause/step 1/?char=296716&invite=1aqyho&referral campaign=c2s&utm_campaign=web-referral

If you have already signed up but don’t use it, please consider giving it a go. All you have to do is visit the website or app before doing your usual online shopping, and click on the link to the retailer you want to use – it takes seconds and you don’t have to spend anything extra.

Look out for ways to raise big donations. Donations from regular grocery shops can really add up, and larger purchases like home or car insurance, electrical goods, broadband, mobile phones and holidays can raise big one-off donations.

FUNDING

Thanks to your support with the above schemes, and our sales, tuck shop, clothes collection, discos, Winter fair, raffle and dress-up days, we have been able to agree to fund the following so far this school year:

£1000 for the school’s new inclusion support space (Poseidon)

£820 for play equipment

£200 for activities for the school’s young carers’ group

£400 for a new water tray, toys and accessories for nursery

£340 for Dance at the Dome costumes

£400 for PSHE books

£180 towards the Year 1 Animazing visit

£500 for new phonics books

Requests for funding come to us from school, as we believe they are best placed to know what is needed.

ONGOING WAYS TO SUPPORT THE PTA

IDEAS WELCOME

Do you have any ideas about events or fundraising? We would love to hear them! We are always trying to find ways to raise funds without asking for money from parents and carers – if you have links with a business that might be interested in supporting us, or know of any schemes or grants we could access, please let us know!

DONATING ITEMS

We are always grateful for donations of items such as clothes, books and toys/games, but we have very limited storage space, so unfortunately need to limit what we can accept at the moment. It would be a big help if donations could fall into the following categories:

CLOTHES

• Good quality (clean with no rips/holes or stains) navy blue school cardigans, sweatshirts and hoodies

• Small quantities of new or good-as-new school trousers, skirts, dresses, t shirts, PE kit and shoes

• Festive jumpers and outfits

• Spooky or World Book Day fancy dress outfits

BOOKS

Good quality (no rips, scribbles or water damage) children’s books can be donated to the Magic Reading Hut in the playground, where all children can take books for free.

TOYS AND GAMES

Please only donate small quantities of toys and games that are in good enough condition that you would be happy to give or receive them as a gift (for example, fun, clean, with no damage or missing parts).
