FAIRLIGHT PTA – HELP NEEDED

Fairlight PTA aims to support our school to provide an excellent education and help every child achieve. We rely on volunteers but know people are busy, so need a big group we can approach for help, allowing people to dip in and out when they can. If you would be happy to be added to this group, please email us (address at the end).

SO FAR THIS TERM

We have had a busy start to the school year! Events so far include: AGM (minutes will be added to the Fairlight website); Bag2School collection; harvest festival for Voices in Exile; PE t-shirt, pre-loved uniform, coat and fancy dress sale; spooky discos (thanks to Rob from Stick It On for the amazing DJing!) and dress-up days. Thank you so much for supporting these events. Along with last year’s fundraisers, they have allowed us to donate £1000 to school’s new inclusion support space (Poseidon).

TUCK SHOP

The Key Stage 2 tuck shop has been up and running for a few months now – every Thursday at morning break time. Everything is 20p, so please remember to give your child change on Thursdays if they would like to buy anything. The food is very generously donated, and all proceeds go towards play equipment.

LOST PROPERTY

We have purchased a big waterproof storage box to try and tackle our soggy lost property problem! It is a real struggle to keep on top of the huge amounts of lost clothes in the playground, and to stop them getting wet, stinky and mouldy, so we will empty this regularly. PLEASE help us by checking regularly for any lost items and labeling your child’s clothes with their name and class (especially jumpers, cardigans and coats).

MAGIC READING HUT

This is now living in the playground, to the right of the rainbow shelter. It was kindly made and donated by Chris (Fairlight parent and furniture designer/maker at Coane+Co) and named by Frankie (one of our pupils)! All children can help themselves to a free book as often as they like. When finished, they can keep it, or return it for someone else to enjoy. We’d love to know the children’s favourite authors and genres, and what they’d be excited to see in the hut – please let us know by email!

UPCOMING THIS TERM

We know it’s a busy and expensive time of year, so just a few dates: 22 Nov – Uniform sale with pre-loved festive jumpers 29 Nov – Non-uniform day in return for bottles for bottle hoopla 6 Dec – Winter fair (we need volunteers – can you help?) 19 Dec – Festive outfit day

WAYS YOU CAN SUPPORT THE PTA/SCHOOL THIS TERM

SHOP FOR BOOKS

Did you know that if you shop with Scholastic, school receives money to spend on books? They have some amazing offers – for example, at the moment you can get 10 Dog Man books for £39.99, 12 How to Train Your Dragon books for £39.99, or 5 Wimpy Kid books for £14.99. You can find these and more deals at www.shop.scholastic.co.uk

ASDA CASHPOTS FOR SCHOOLS

So far, we have more than £260 in our Asda Cashpot – this is fantastic! Thank you so much to everyone who has signed up! We have until the end of November to raise funds, so please remember to use the Cashpots for Schools scheme if you shop at Asda this month. You just need to add Fairlight to your Cashpots in the Asda Rewards app.

EASYFUNDRAISING

We know we mention easyfundraising a lot! But it really is one of the easiest and quickest ways to raise funds for Fairlight without you having to spend anything extra. We could make a significant amount of money (literally thousands of pounds!) if more people signed up and used it. Find out more with the QR code or at www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/fairlight-pta

STIKINS

If you purchase name labels for your child’s clothes from Stikins (www.stikins.co.uk) this doesn’t just help us with our lost property battle! You can enter our code – 7062 – and we will receive 30% commission on your order.

DONATING

We do not expect anyone to donate money unless they wish to and feel able to. If you are in a position to help the PTA by donating, you can use this page: https://gofund.me/ae708a4f

MATCH-FUNDING

Does your workplace offer match-funding (a scheme where organisations agree to match public donations to charity)? If so, this can be an amazing way to support us. Please check and let us know!
